One of our main goals is to help underprivileged kids by building and expanding libraries in order to promote literacy and an equal access to education and opportunity. To accomplish this goal, we constructed our first-ever library at the Bunker Hill Community, where we continue to:
• Set up, expand, and refurbish libraries
• Build home libraries
• Donate books
• Host summer events, including but not limited to reading, spelling, speed math, and science mini-competitions
• Volunteer every Friday to read and interact with children
• Host special events on holidays such as throwing a Halloween's Party
In September 2019, BestBridgeToHeart built a brand new library for HuaXia Chinese School - Sugar Land Campus. BestBridgeToHeart also donated about 1,000 books to this library, which now also serves as a classroom for our weekly Friday volunteers who go teach a wide array of topics, everything from science and robotics to debate and English. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, our organization has transitioned to online summer classes to further support the education of HuaXia School's children.
In October 2019, BestBridgeToHeart built a reading library at Airline community so that children living in this community would have access to free books to read in their spare time to further their education. BestBridgeToHeart also donated about 400 books to this library.
Partnering with the
Fort Bend Cares Center,
BestBridgeToHeart donated $3,000 to support 100 students to be able to install the Learning Upgrade®
application, which allows students to learn critical subjects such as English and Mathematics anywhere they go.
The Learning Upgrade® app has been shown to provide breakthrough growth by offering free access to 900+ lessons,
giving 21 courses from kinder to adult, and providing personalized assessment reports and help for special needs.
In this way, students will be able to learn at their own pace and develop the skills to pursue higher education.
BestBridgeToHeart volunteers helped with installing and setting-up the app.
Partnering with doctors and dentists throughout the Greater Houston Area,
BestBridgeToHeart set up small libraries in the waiting area of the clinics so that young children may have the opportunity to read and grow while waiting for essential health care services.
In December 2022, BestBridgeToHeart donated $1000 to the library of Olga Leonard Elementary school. In the school year of 2023-2024, BestBridgeToHeart will set up BBTH scholarship for the school students. BestBridgeTo Heart hopes this scholarship program will provide a small but important difference in the lives of children as they continue their education and peruse their dreams.
